Kuan Chu Lai
Interior Design Student
About Me
My name is Kuan Chu Lai and I am a student at North Dakota State University, where I am pursuing a degree in Interior Design with minors in Gerontology and Art. As an international student from Taiwan, I am driven by my desire to design comfortable spaces for the elderly, which is why I have combined my passion for interior design and my interest in gerontology into a career goal.
I am drawn to interior design because I believe that the design of a building's interior has a significant impact on the people who inhabit it. I strive to create thoughtful spaces that encourage a sense of connection and comfort, and this is particularly important when designing for the elderly. My experiences interning in a retirement community have given me valuable insights into the specific needs and requirements of seniors, which inform my approach to interior design.
In designing spaces for the elderly, I consider their perspective and take into account their unique needs. My ultimate goal is to design environments that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional, and that promote a high quality of life for older individuals.
